They sent two reviewer comments. Based on that the acquisition editor wrote that the main issue is the proposal is too narrow to contribute significantly to the field. One of the reviewers said that he/she thinks there is NO need for such a book in this field. I have some questions to you the experienced authors, most respectfully:

1) I really want to write a book in my pre-tenure career. How should I handle this book project? Should I work on the rejected proposal to make it wide so that I can cover more scopes? Or, should I just go for other University presses with the same proposal? Is it not likely that the proposal would get to the same reviewers? If so, shouldn't I get the same negative feedback again?

2) The latter comment above about that there is NO need for such a book in this field:
How to handle this? Even if there is one book, can't others write a second book on the same topic?

3) Would it be wise to submit the proposal to other University presses, or the competitors? Just curious.

As my first book before tenure, I wanted to go for University presses only for now.

Thanks a lot for your time.
Sunshinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04085641447463297256noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2175875149329306963.post-9518787708831414152013-07-08T13:28:55.835-07:002013-07-08T13:28:55.835-07:00Extremely useful!
